Stalin’s Major Statement

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, on Saturday, recalled the rich legacy of Tamil civilization, valor, and sacrifice of Sivaganga district, stating that it symbolizes resistance, freedom, and social justice. Addressing a public meeting, he cited the Keeladi archaeological findings as proof that Tamil civilization flourished in the region thousands of years ago. Paying tribute to freedom fighters including Muthu Vaduganatha Thevar, Velu Nachiyar, Vellachi Nachiyar, the Maruthu brothers, and revolutionary Kuyili, the Chief Minister said that their sacrifices continue to inspire Tamil society even today. He said that Sivaganga is the land that transformed sacrifice into strength. During his visit, Stalin inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 49 completed projects worth a total of Rs. 2,560 crore and 28 new projects worth Rs. 13.36 crore. Additionally, he distributed welfare assistance worth Rs. 205 crore to 15,453 beneficiaries. He inaugurated new buildings constructed at a cost of Rs. 100 crore at the Chettinad Agricultural College and Research Institute in Kanadukathan and the Government Law College in Kazhanivasal, Karaikudi taluk, providing facilities for 1,300 students. The auditorium at the agricultural college was named after Bharat Ratna Dr. C. Subramaniam, the former Union Agriculture Minister. The Chief Minister also inaugurated combined drinking water schemes worth Rs. 2,119.07 crore covering 2,452 rural habitations, 11 panchayat unions, eight municipalities, and three town panchayats in the district. A mini TIDEL Park, built at a cost of Rs. 32 crore, was also inaugurated.
