Union Home Minister Amit Shah has directed officials to strictly implement a ‘zero-tolerance’ policy against illegal constructions within a 15-kilometer radius of the country’s borders and to demolish all such structures built over the last few years. Officials stated that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has assigned enhanced responsibilities to District Magistrates in border areas, tasking them with ensuring the legal and financial compliance of banking transactions by all banks, verifying large commercial establishments, scrutinizing their funding sources, detecting fake accounts and shell companies, identifying fraudulent Aadhaar cards, and curbing cross-border smuggling. Presiding over a security review meeting held in Bikaner, Shah assessed security-related issues concerning the border districts of Rajasthan that lie along the India-Pakistan frontier. Earlier, while addressing BSF personnel at a border outpost in Bikaner, Shah remarked that previous governments had failed to pay adequate attention to the role of women in border security and the facilities required for them. He asserted that, in terms of contributing to national security, female personnel have surged two steps ahead of their male counterparts, and that all necessary facilities for women deployed in border areas would be ensured by 2030. Shah informed that 79 barracks for female personnel have been sanctioned in Rajasthan, 67 of which have already been constructed at a cost of approximately \u20b939 crore. The Home Minister inaugurated 14 of these barracks on Monday. He further stated that 356 additional barracks would be constructed at a cost of around \u20b9200 crore to improve the deployment conditions for women in the border areas guarded by the Border Security Force (BSF). Shah also announced that the construction of a lateral road in the Rajasthan desert has commenced.
